First off I am sick of the fact that because I'm 19 years old and own a 4x4, that every mechanic on Gods green earth thinks I beat and abuse my rig every chance I get. No one, and I mean no one I know my age, and some older, take better care of their vehicle than I do. So the next time I go into a mechanic and hear them tell me, "I need to learn how to take care of my vehicle" because they had to replace 16 year old outer radius arms on my F-250, which is a workhorse, not a beater, I'm gonna spit in their eye. Now that I've vented, lol, after the radius arms were changed (oddly enough I sent the truck in for a new air pump, and they found that the radius arms needed to be changed?) the truck pulls to the left and I must have the steering wheel turned to the right to keep the rig straight. Now is this something that usually happens and is normal, or should I go in and raise hell, like I wanted to untill mymother stopped me? And if the case is it needs adjusting, I don't want to see this mechanics face ever again, how difficult would it be for myself to do it? I think I have an idea on how to do it, but I'm not 100% sure. Any input from you guys would be great, and I appologize for the long post.
Make the mechanic align it properly - you've already paid him to do it. You don't have the tools or experience to do it (neither do I), and the TTB is one of the most delicate IFSs around.
thats one of the first things that went through my head, the dreaded twin traction beam! First thing in the morning I'm gonna go in and have him do it. If your gonna fix something like that, at least test drive it so it drives properly before handing it back to me when it pulls to the left like a bear. I mean, isn't he supposed to make sure the vehicle still steers properly?
I had the radius arm bushings done on my '85 F150 and the mechanic included a front end alignment as part of the job. Drives great now. Just my 2 cents. Good luck!
It sounds like it might need alinging. If it was aligned with one of the bushings worn out it would be over adjusted on one side( like bad bushing on the right would make it pull to the left with new bushings) and now that both bushings are new it would cause it to be out of allingement.
