Hey man, I finally got around to lookin at your gallery (I'm slow) You got a killer ride man!!! I bet that Caddy will fly!! I love the headers (bet they were real cheap) The paint and headers look awesome! Do you have any new picts? Just curious, I like picts! You'd never know it I'm just now gettin around to lookin at some of the gallerys on here. I'm always workin on somethin, and dont have alot of time to play on here as much as I'd like. My wife says I'm addicted to this site! I just might be, I think I might have to check into the Henry Ford Clinic LOL
Have a frosty and post some more picts! I'll go have a Coke and a smile
Thanks for the nice words!! Yea the Caddy pushes the truck down the road pretty good. I actually got the headers fairly cheap, less than $200 on EBay several years ago...brand new) The bad news is I had to sacrifice running them. I had already made my engien mounts and steering by the time I got the headers and they interfere with my steering intermediate shaft.....AAAAGH!!! I was too close to having the truck driveable and didn't want to reengineer everything at the time.
I have another steering column that I swiped from a 1963 Buick Riviera that is a bit shorter and better looking and will allow me to modify the steering shaft for the headers. Someday (famous last words) probably when (if??) I blow the truck apart for paint I'll rework the steering and add the headers, then I can run the exhaust all the way out the back....should sound cool!
I definately need some different gears though. Right now I'm running 4:11's and 55 or 60MPH is about all I can cruise at..........again....someday...
.....someday.....I want to convert my big Caddy to Port Fuel Injection as well. I have all the hard components (intake, fuel rails, regulator, injectors, etc) Just need time to sit down and experiment with electronics....someday.....
I know all about "someday" I've told everyone I'm takin the sbc out of my truck so many times, that no one believes me anymore!! I got too many other projects" friends projects" You know how that goes. Have you settled on a color yet, or you goin to make it all primered? I plan to use flat clear on my panel when I get around to paintin it. I just spend the most of the night cleanin up my truck. What a pain! I use to rook little bro into doin it, but he's too busy now.
No final plans on the color, but I'm kinda leaning towards the old Ford color, Sheridan Blue. I've been toying around with trying to make the front of the truck match the rear and leaving it as a rough patina. You have alot of freedom in a truck that is rough on the outside. I don't have to worry about parking it anywhere.
My plans for the summer were to start making the interior liveable. Hopefully I can start on those plans next month.....someday....
Sounds cool!! I know it's a pain finding a parkin place in my 56 when we go out. Usually I wait in the truck and have my wife go in and get whatever it is we need? I feel more safe in another state than I do in my own home town. You know how it is when someone is jealous of you for what you have?
