low oil pressure

I PUT ON MANUAL GAUGE TO CHECK ENGINE OIL PRESSURE MORE ACCURATELY, AND WHEN ENGINE IS WARM, AND RUNNING 2000 RPMS THE PRESSURE IS ABOUT 45 AND TODAY DROPPED TO 25. ON IDLE THERE IS NO PRESSURE AT ALL. BELOW 10 AT MOST.

ENGINE STARTS PERFECTLY, DOES NOT BURN OIL, AND DOES NOT SMOKE. IS THIS NORMAL FOR A '79 FORD F150 ENGINE IS 351 WINDSOR V8 ?

JUST BOUGHT TRUCK AND EVERYTHING ORIGINAL. HAVE BEEN DRIVING THIS TRUCK FOR A MONTH NOW.

CHANGED MOTOR OIL AND PUT FORD PARTIAL SYNTHETIC OIL 10W 30 AND NEW FRAM FILTER. SOMEONE SAID IT SHOULD HAVE STRAIGHT 30W IN IT IS THIS TRUE?

SO AFRAID THE BEARINGS ARE BAD IN THE TRUCK BECAUSE OF LACK OF OIL PRESSURE.

Please turn cap lock off. Rule of thumb is 10psi per 1,000 rpm. Normal hot idle is 650-750 rpm. Take a good look at your gauge. Straight 30w may help and most will advise you to ditch the Fram filter. Can't beat the stock filter. I would be cautious, but not overly concerned on a high mileage engine.

How long have you had that engine in that truck?
Oh and the cap lock button is right above the shift button on the left hand side of your key board yeah that one with the light on that's the one.

The caps are a faux pas but I'll give you credit for using punctuation. It beats the hell out of parsing run-on sentences!

Original? Not if it has a Windsor. Ya might wanna verify what your engine is... 351W vs 351M/400.

2x with rule of thumb oil pressure. I'd stay away from synthetics on these older engines. Newer engines are built with much, much closer tolerances and are generally OK with synthetics. Not so with vintage steel.
