That's probably the ONLY thing I don't have, a way to grind it off...I have a chisel attachment for the air hammer, think that would work? I actually can fit a cordless drill in there, I tried yesterday just for s**** and giggles.
I used a flat/rounded end on the air hammer and that thing didnt BUDGE!
If you have a Harbour freight or Northern tool or similar tool store nearby you can get an arbor and cutoff wheel. They're designed to go in a highspeed grinder but a drill motor will do in a pinch.
Theres none here in Monroe but ill have to double check the Ann arbor and detroit areas.
I think I do have a couple different size pin punches. Can I get it cherry red with the Map gas bottle?
It would take a little while but if you have a dremel they make cutoff wheels for those. Just have to be patient cause if you get in a hurry and push to hard they will come apart.
Map gas will get it glowing.
Not sure what size those botls are or how long you can wait but here are a couple of the air hammer pin punches I mentioned.
Oh yeah, all this stuff I'm suggesting has the possibility of flying stuff and sharp metal particles so wear some safety glasses. Not worth losing an eye over.
I would guess about a minute give or take a little.
I'm the worlds worst about remebering the safety glasses and I was a Safety Rep at work for awhile. But when grinding and drilling, overhead escpecially, I'll put them on. I've had a metal splinter in the eye and it's no picnic.
I have had good luck with CRC Freeze Off. It is supposed to crack the rust with cold and then penetrate with its solution. It worked well for me on rusty bolts and such. http://www.crcindustries.com/files/F...20Brochure.pdf
alright well i havent been able to work on the truck for a few days due to work and school, but i really need her back so im contemplating throwing in the towel and having a shop do it. before i make my decision (its a hard one as i dont trust many people to work on my truck) obviously the uppipes are out and turbo would have to go back in but what would be necessary to make it driveable? if it would be driveable at all in that state...thanks guys
