Axle codes

Hello,

My rear axle code on my 1978 ford f250 2wd is a 22A
But I can't seem to find in any of the tag decoders a 22A

Can someone help me?

The axle code on my 77 F100 vin plate is A9H. I don't find it, or any variation listed in the Service Manual ID Codes section. Could anyone advise it's meaning? Thanks.

Unless it's really H9A I don't have a guess.

It is clearly 'A9H' under 'Axle Code' on the right side of the VIN Plate. On the rear axle, attached to the left side (looking forward) differential housing cover there is a metal tag stamped with the following:

3 07 07TA-B3F
751 400-1 MEX

If anybody can shed some light on what axle I have, I'd appreciate it. I hope it's not an illegal

On a 4x4, I thought the 2 digit number was the rear diff, and the letter code was the front diff

According to my 77 service manual:

"A letter and a number, or two numbers under AXLE identify the rear axle ratio (when required, a letter is also stamped behind the rear axle code to identify the front axle capacity)."

Using this explanation, my axle code 'A9H', the 'H' would ID the front axle capacity and the 'A9' should identify the rear axle ratio. But I don't find the 'A9' ID code listed with all the others in the service manual.
