Door Chime

Hello,

I would like to get my door chime working again.

But i wouldnt mind having a newer sounding door chime.

What cars can I take the door chime out of that will plug directly into my truck
And does someone have a picture of where the door chime is on my 1978 f250?eg

Also why is it I dont have permission to post pictures to a thread?

I don't believe these trucks ever had a door chime. Some have a buzzer for the seatbelt and I think that's later models.

I'v never had somebody ask how to hook them up , but a lot ask how to cut them loose. I always shut mine up somehow , don't need to be reminded how to drive.

Trace the seat belt elec connection under the seat and back across the dvrs side floor pan area and back up towards the fuse panel area.

I believe it is plug in buzzer up under there somewhere? Some elec guru will sound of with exactly which one it is.

I like the old style cab buzzer.

Reminds me of being a kid and getting in my grandfather's F150.

Chime is such a pretty word, hardly describes that grating racket these things make.

The buzzer is located next to the driver's side kick panel. In the illustration it's just below the turn signal flasher. Look at basic part number 10B924, that's the buzzer.
The part number for your original buzzer was D6AZ-10B924-A. I don't know of any later units that will directly interchange with yours.
Here's the illustration out of the Ford parts catalog.
