I have a 1999 F250 7.3 Diesel and my AC isn't working properly. On Max AC as you're driving it would be ok and then it would be warm and then cold and then warm and then cold and so on. I've noticed that the clutch stays engaged as well. I've never seen it disengage. The freon is at the level it needs to be. Then just a few days ago, if you have it on Max and High the air disappears from the vents and you hear a noise somewhere in the dash on the passenger side. I think something might have come off?? Does anyone know what's wrong with my AC with it going from cold to warm constantly? I heard that maybe clutch has too big of a gap?? I have almost 200,000 miles on it.
check your ac hub/clutch gap with a feeler gauge.. there is a write up in the search tab on how to do this.. thats what it sounds like to me.. also,, check the clutch on your cooling fan and make sure that it is working properly.. behind the glove box is where all the wiring and vacume lines run for the ac/heat.. lower the glove box and look and see if anything has come lose and or has a vacume leak..
you might want to check your diverter door motor might be going out or loosing its adjustment. thats the trap door motor that opens the direction of air flow from ur heat or cold. just an idea

Is that in the dash as well on the passenger side?
