defroster controll door

I have a 1986 Bronco and the defroster doesn't work. I have removed the dash and can see that both vacuum motors are working and the fan blows well, but I have read that the hinge on the selector door can break and not direct air to the windshield. My question is how do I gain access to the infamous door hinge?

No problem, I saw that the other day. I've got the same problem and its on the list before it starts getting too cold.
