So with 13 years and 240k on all my front and rear end bushings my ole truck seems to be all over the place.
Took a 200mi trip last week dropping a master craft x-star boat off at a buddies place 150mi into the journey then returned home with no boat. My wife said babe ur truck rides like **** .
It was all over the road bumps were brutal and well its bad. Ball joints upper lower both sides and steering linkage tie rod ends and all that was replaced about 2 years ago or 30 to 40k and still look and feel great upon inspection.
What I'm doing is getting the energy suspension bushing kit and replacing every bushing i can front and rear..... spring bushings sway bar, sway bar links and everything else. Kit is 220$ and after that new shocks mine have about 120k on them LOL !
So has any one done there bushings like I'm about to do ? Is it a PITA or just time consuming. Im gonna need a press i imaging which i priced one from Harbor Freight for about 160$ its a 20ton.
Any insight..... do's and do not's would be helpful. I also herd i should get new u-bolts
Think I'll be headed down this road myself, sway bar bushings are shot as are end links. With 200k on the clock, the others are just as tired. I will be interested in hearing how the kit worked out for you and how easy/hard the install went.
HAHHAHAHA YEA i actually got on the energy suspension website and seen some rely good reviews and everyone said you need a press.
Thinking if the bushings in the leaf pacs have a 8th or a 1/4 in of worn out play thats a .5inches or .25 inches on just one side. Could explain a lot.
But I'm doing it for sure in the next month as soon as i get up some extra coin and time to do it.
I have done (all the bushings) on many many cars but not a truck yet. It is very time consuming! Especially on those cars with 5 arms per wheel... But it is a night and day difference on every single car I have ever done.

After all this i will be ordering a red head
I was able to pop the link bushings with a 12T press that i have and putting the bushing in boiling water to soften them helped also. You might need a second set of hands for the track bar bushings if i recall. Remember to have the torque specs for all the bolts too.
You may want to consider, too, for significantly better drivability while towing and hauling the StableLoad suspension upgrade product.
For about the same cost, it will pre-engage the lower leaf spring overload and reduce sway.
It is an easy install, and you can disengage in seconds while not towing or hauling for your stock ride. StableLoads
I have had my energy suspension kit in the garage for a couple of months waiting for me to get un-lazy. Please let us know how it goes. I will probably end up taking it to my buddy's shop.
I just did the front bushings and endlinks and what not. Need to do the rear some days. I bought the 20 ton press from Harbor Freight. It worked like a champ.
The whole process was very easy just a little time consuming.
Also look for a coupon for harbor freight you can save 20% off and then if you wait for it to go on sale you still get the 20% off the sale price. Still worth having in the shop when needed.
I will be getting the 20 ton 20 Ton Shop Press - Hydraulic Shop Presses on Sale from harbor freight which hopefully will do the job. I will surly have an extra set of hands. Couldent imagine holding a leaf pack up and working the press at the same time lol.
