On my 1999 Mountaineer AWD V-8 i have a constant squeak especially when driving over bumps, i checked the balljoints and they seem to be tight not loose at all, checked the control arm busings they look good also so now i located the problem to being the STABILIZER BAR BUSHINGS, before replacement i would like to know should i replace the links that go with the bar? The truck hs 40,000 miles on it and the links look good to me but i want to make sure before replacing the bushings. Thanks to all!
MSP, there's an Energy Suspension kit that includes polyurethane sway bar bushings, new end links, and poly link bushings. My suggestion would be to install the kit, since you'll have it apart anyway. (Kit is about $35, available from Summit, Jegs, and eBay.)
You could also loosen the sway bar bushings, and apply some grease. That should eliminate the squeaking.....

I would try greasing the bushings as loneranger suggests to see if it helps the problem before springing for new sway bar setup. Tracing squeaks on the front end is very hard to do. I had a similar noise problem, lubed every thing I could to no avail and it ultimately turned out to be the inner tie rods where they join the steering rack.(not too far from the bushings you cite) Fortunately, I had 1000 mi left on my 60K warranty when it happened. good luck
Thanks for the advice 98XLT, i found the problem(s): 1st. the busings from the stabalizer bar were all dried up and not good at all so they were making the squeak, i replaced them with new ones and the cost was cheap only $9.00 and greased them prior to installing them, 2nd. the lower ball joints were shot so there was another clunking noise and occasional squeak too so that was done. After replacing all these items the truck is squeak free.... Thank god! :O)
