Anyone know if it's possible to benchtest an HPOP? Was troubleshooting a loss of power/no hot start issue the other day. SGII seemed to point fingers towards ICP/HPOP. Had only 700 and change at high idle. At 2000 RPM truck was only pushing 1030 lbs. OR was like 638. I looked at Youtube at a video regarding it, tech said common failures for HPOP leaking is at the bearing on the side, apparently it comes up missing. Mine is there. There was a little trash on the screen on the ICP, but just didn't seem that it was enough to warrant the low numbers. Any thoughts? Thinking about replacing both since I'm already in there that deep. IPR was changed several months back...and no other mods other than listed...and NO PERFORMANCE CHIPS
There is no method to bench test the pump. What tests have you done so far to eliminate any high pressure oil leaks and to ensure the IPR valve is operating correctly?
Well I can be bench tested..... But the gear to do it would be
more than a new engine + some.
If it fails an air test and you want to take a few more steps
then your going to need the isolator plugs for the rails
and do that set of tests. That will narrow it down to
the branch tube or the pump.
If you have the pump out already. Take a rubber tipped air blower and pressurize the branch tube and injectors with icp screwed in. If you don't hear any leaks that would narrow it down to the pump and ipr valve.
