If the shop is a diesel shop, what diesels do they work on? How is it possible that you can be a diesel repair shop and know nothing about the 6l? The damn engine has been around for 10 years.
Yeah...these motors are quite different. I've worked on many diesels, from back hoes to steam rollers, to of course trucks, etc..... these are very sensor reliant for one, Yes they've been out there for 10 yrs+ but because these are a different setup most diesel techs don't have the training behind it...or scanning equipment.
Something as little as a bad coolant cap can blow head gaskets and kill these engines. Other engines when installing heads, the position of the crankshaft doesn't matter, though most of us mechanics would clock it at TDC 12 o'clock position.....on this engine you do that and you break rockers, bend valves... this engine must be clocked at 6 o'clock.
I don't even know what to say. I'm speechless. I do know that my husband despite everything, loves this freakin truck and wants to keep it forever (he's a Lions fan too, go figure). If Anthony can fix it, we are driving it to Kansas City every time it needs anything for the rest of its life.
Makes sense to me, I understand his love of the truck. I love mine even with its flaws. I figure most on this forum feel the same way which leds to this 6.0 forums existence.
Oh ya man I get the Old Richard Simmons DVD out and play the hero song and go to town
I can hear it from ur truck in KC. Lol. I know ur hookup in the truck ROCKS!!!! Fingers up head banging dude. Lol,, I can't do the smiles on mobile. Haha.
So what is the part#'s of that TRAVELING KIT and what quantities?
What is the inventory in your tool kit?
The part number is,,, Holycraphowdidiaccumulateallthis.
If I had a hoist,,, we could pull the engine. I should have all the tools. But we are rollin with a skeleton travel kit. Figures,,, I left some of the parts at the shop. But I have about twice that amount of parts in kc.
Betting on an IPR or oil filter issue. Those are the primary suspects for a sudden failure. With the reported oil leak, it could be a bad pigtail, but those are intermittant.
