I'am not sure if you read my first post but it is obvious that you have found another bull shi-ter or so called tech . This guy is full of crap . The only way to check comp on these is to pull the glow plug and use a compression tester , and then you need the motor to spin .And they do not just lose their programing , where did it go ??? At this point you need someone else to look at the truck .
Anthony PM'd his phone number and I called him and left a message. I was going to ask him if he could call them and talk to the shop, I assume they wouldn't try BSing him? I'm reluctant to pay another $100 to tow it to another shop where I could have the same problems, you know? We have to be in Lafayette on Monday, 2 hours W of here. One week after that we have to be in Shreveport, 5 hours NW. If we don't get there we have no income and we are in big trouble. This would have been no big deal at the beginning of the summer when we had several thousand of savings but the truck has already eaten all of that. I don't know what to do. Gonna wait for Anthony to call and see if he has some words of wisdom, maybe he can talk to them for us.
OH NO!! WTF!!??!! yet ANOTHER BS shop!!?? Geeez, probably in "co-hoots" with Kenny.... were you able to physically see the state of the truck? Know where it's at?
He said his laptop told him that there was low compression and low oil pressure. I'm sure he didn't do the compression test like you describe, Wulf. It makes no sense that all those things have to be reprogrammed. I don't get that at all.
No, I have no idea where the truck is at. Its at his buddy Alan's shop.
Makes matters worse... I would try to find that out first (and verify physically somehow) before telling the mechanic off... OH GOSH!! I can't describe the rage I'm feeling..again I'm not even in your shoes.
Need to see where truck is and make sure they didn't take parts off like a door or something... the way these mechanics work, I wouldn't put it passed them!
I don't see how the modules could lose communication amongst them selves. As I said earlier, I took an FICM from a truck motor in a junk yard put it on my 6.0 did not flash anything and just drive the truck. I am no where in the league with these guys about the 6.0 but it would seem to take some kind of electrical surge to scramble the coding on them. Good luck with it and watch them like a hawk. Will be standing by to hear the outcome.
Well, here I am in a strange city where I don't know anyone, without a vehicle with little money left and under time constraints. I'm in not much of a position to tell anyone off and I'm not sure I could say "the guys on the internet say you are scammin' me!" with a straight face lol
We put a new FICM in and drove the truck for 3 weeks, it drove fine. This guy just told me that they had to reprogram the PCM and the transmission computer, he didn't even mention the FICM. Transmission computer? I didn't even know there was a transmission computer.
Look i realize you are in a bad way and i don't know what to tell you but it posibily looks like the same thing is going to happen again , pay a bunch of money and still have a broke truck . If you were in Tn near knox i would look at it for you . Good luck .

I can't help but crack up at this, but you have a point to an extent...
You also can't have these thieves take your money either... I can't believe I haven't heard from any of the mechanics in the area...ugh!!
"TCM," that makes sense. If any of you knowledgeable people want to give the shop a call and "talk shop" with him, I am happy to give out the phone number for the shop. Maybe a knowledgeable person can put Kenny on the right track.
