I was headed into work this morning and started my truck right up. Drove to the end of the street and while waiting to make the turn the battery light and check engine light came on and truck shut off. Tested the battery and was reading the correct voltage, switched from front tank to back tank and reverse. no problem there. the truck turns over but it's not kicking on, so either a spark plug or maybe fuel filter issue? if anyone has any information as to what i could do i would appreciate it.
Years ago my truck was towed to Tasca Ford, an old, large, legendary dealership in Providence RI when the truck just shut off in traffic on RT 95. Their blue team was convinced the module was the problem after they told me my battery was dead and it started after charging and I responded by telling them it was dead because I cranked the hell out of it when it died. Well the truck made it 80 miles home and then started shutting off again several days later. It was not their fault, fixing something that works is difficult and I was uneasy after hearing it started after charging the battery and nothing else. It turned out to be a wire up by the distributer that had almost broken off inside its clip and would work fine if pushed on but would vibrate and separate. A simple fix for an extremely difficult to find problem.
I said legendary, for a reason. I love this stuff, really brings me back to the late 60s at Connecticut Dragway. Had some great times there....
One other thing I have had problems with over the years has been the inertia switch that kills the fuel pump, you might try to reset it and see what happens, I know where I live, they get tripped quite often due to the rough road I live on.
