Electrical Gremlins

I have a 2013 F-150 Ecoboost SCREW, with about 77,000 miles on it. I have 3 major electrical issues right now with this truck. First issue is that my truck's battery randomly dies overnight (and a couple times at work). No specific weather conditions, temps, time of vehicle off, etc. Completely random. Ford replaced my battery once back under warranty, and I have replaced it since then with a Yellow Top Optima. Still same randomness as always.

Second issue is that my passenger side headlight low beam does not come on. High beam works ok. After going through troubleshooting with a scan tool, checking all wires bulbs etc., the guide said to replace the Body Control Module. I never did, as I wasn't super certain that was really the issue, and money was too tight to take to dealer.

Fast forward to this week and issue three. After driving my truck a short errand, without shutting it off before returning home, pulled in my driveway, turned off the ignition, and the truck went dead cold electrically. No lights, gauges, or anything, and nothing when trying the ignition, like there was no battery installed. It was late, and I decided I would work on it in the morning. Went out the next morning, and on a whim, tried my fob, and the truck locked and unlocked like normal. Opened the door, and lights came on, sync screen came on, etc. Put key in ignition and turned to start, dead. All lights turned back off like there was no battery. Popped the hood and checked battery connections and whatnot, and they were all good. Put a multimeter on my battery and it showed 11.97 volts, well within starting range. Pulled out my jump box just to see if maybe there was no amperage behind those volts, and the truck started like nothing was wrong. Pulled the battery and checked it at auto parts store, all good. Put it back in the truck, tried to start without jump box, and as soon as I turned the key to start, dead. Jumped it again, and all is normal. Drove the truck around for a while and pulled back in the driveway and as soon as i turned the ignition off, all dead again.

I scoured the internet all over the place and read all kinds of similar problems, but none the same as mine. The closest I have seen to mine, which also included the random dying overnight, said that the Body Control Module could also be the problem for that. I am thinking about replacing the BCM as now I have 2 issues that point to the BCM being faulty. Any thoughts on my issues?

Put the meter on the battery posts (not the clamps or cables, the posts) and then hit the starter while watching the meter. You may need an assistant. Report the results.

So, now this morning, instead of being 11. Whatever volts, I only had 8.3 on the battery, however all circuits still act like I had no voltage. At 8.3, when I attempted to start, the voltage dropped to 6.2 when I turned the key to start. Tried to charge it in the truck for an hour, and still read 6.2. Pulled the battery out to put on the charger, it had 11.6 volts. Popped it back in, 5.89.

The battery is bad (or discharged) according to those readings.

When installed, are you taking those volt readings by touching the battery terminals or the battery posts?

^^^^ I think you have a connection/corrosion issue at one of the terminals. The positive is usually the culprit.

I’ve had numerous electrical gremlins in my 13’ eco. Battery dead once. Headlights flash occasionally when off. A/C blower works sometimes. Tried replacing it but old blower started working after I disconnected and plugged in new blower. Old one seems to be fine but something was keeping it off. Dash lights haven’t came on a couple times when I opened the door as well as the auto running boards not dropping. Bcm? Thanks for any suggestions. This is getting old.

Ok, my '01 (I know different gen) the headlights would flicker, come on and go back off while sitting parked, key off. Turned out to be headlight switch.
Maybe this bit will help.
