Thanks guys. I got a chance to put the smoked led mirror lenses in yesterday, much better. Truck definitely needs flares and new side steps. Other than that I'm pretty happy with it. Rust does suck. Something that gets noticed a lot on my truck is the underbody paint. I degreased and power washed the chassis and painted it using rustoleum hammered finish in black. The paint has stuck insanely well and gave a nice textured finish. No more surface rust on everything and nothing sticks to it like undercoating does.

Bumping this back up.

Will be keeping the 08+ mirrors for sure. Love them. Would be cool to have power folding/telescoping but I very rarely fold them or telescope them, so that's money that can be spend elsewhere. I've got the chrome caps, but once I have paint work done on the truck I'll get the spare paint to match caps done in yellow. Love the LED smoked signals as well. Makes the signals blend in with the mirror much better instead of the factory orange or aftermarket clear ones. Clear ones almost give it an "egg yolk" effect. The LED's look much cooler as well. I will probably stick with the black housings and chrome caps to leave it looking like an Amarillo truck.

Will be sticking with the clear cornered HD headlights as well. They fit the truck perfectly and every aftermarket headlight I've seen does not match our trucks well. They make it try and look too new. I'm just gonna get some upgraded bulbs to put in to finish out this project. I need to get amber corner bulbs now since I've got clear lenses with clear bulbs and it clashes bad. lol Also, thinking of getting some of the silver coated turn signal bulbs so that the bottoms aren't yellowed. We shall see though. The headlights compliment the Amarillo package perfectly.

I'm still on the fence about the tails. I wouldn't mind a set of LED ones if I could find a style I liked and could find a 3rd brake light to match. I haven't seen any that have been smoked enough to meet my expectations yet though. If I get the LED tails I'll be getting the LED 3rd brake light for sure as well. I've thought about just running a factory set of 08+ tails, but I think an all smoked light package would look really nice as well. There's no red on the truck anywhere besides the interior stitching so I think smoked stuff would probably blend in better. The Amarillo package didn't have any special lighting, but it seems like smoked lenses fit better with it to keep an overall yellow/black/chrome theme.

That's all for now, just wanted to gather my ideas for a bit.

glad you like where its going man, It's a great feeling having the truck exactly like you want. I got my corner bulbs off superbrightleds.com i believe they are 194 bulbs but they are bright and the color matches well.

Yea, I am loving the truck. I would just like to get it to a stage of being "done" before winter gets here. That way I can concentrate more on the Audi. I'll add more to this later tonight.

Yea, I have the mirrors on. I need to get it cleaned up and get some pictures here soon. The front diff cover is just a finned aluminum one from eBay. I think it was like 180 bucks for the front and rear ones. They're pretty well made, very robust. The rear one has a drain plug on it which is nice. I of course painted them and sanded the fins down. I didn't want to pay the outrageous amount for the AFE or Mag-Hytec ones. These cost about half of what one of those did. Came with hardware, I just had to buy sealant. They each hold about a quart more of fluid.

Big ford trucks plain out are an addiction. LOL. We always say we are done with this project turn around and find something else to do to it. And we have 9 vehicles. On our 85 chevy van we said ok we are done after the carb right now debating on restoring or selling.

As far as the bumpers go I will probably just leave the ones on it that it has. I know to change the front bumper the grille and headlights and everything needs changed along with it and I really like the 05-07 front a lot. The 08+ rear bumper isn't really anything special IMO. I've already got the backup sensors. I'll be leaving the chrome on the bottoms to keep it looking like an Amarillo as well. I've seen paint to match bumpers and it's just too much yellow. It's really easy to overdo the yellow. You need some other colors to balance it out a bit.

Side mirrors and lenses - done (besides painting the spare mirror caps yellow)
Headlights - done (besides changing some bulbs possibly)
Front bumper - done

At this point I'm thinking I may get the 08+ rear bumper in chrome. The more I look at it the more I like it. The front bumper will stay as it matches the 05-07 front end. IIRC you can't run the 08-10 or 11+ front bumper on an older truck without swapping the headlights, grille, fenders, hood, etc. I am still thinking of getting a set of LED tails and third brake light as well. Do you guys think it would be best to go with a smoked gray or smoked red set? The clear ones look awful on a yellow truck. I'm gonna order the eBay pocket style flares I think as well.

Just saying that I'm not doing anything with the front bumper, it will remain factory with the chrome on the bottom. I'll be leaving the 05-07 front end for sure. I'm gonna do some shopping around for tails and third brake light as well. I just ordered the pocket flares too. I found an 08+ chrome bumper with the backup sensors for 150 bucks near me. Thinking of picking it up.
