Been finding fuel all over top of motor every time I popped hood and been having hard start issue after sitting over night. The issue is the little black connector on the top of the fuel water seperator. Any way of replacing this piece or do I ha e to get a whole new housing . And what's the connector for .
I tried to replace the o-rings on mine, but when trying to remove the plug from the heater element, I twisted the plug, with vice-grips. Big no-no as it turns out, and I ruined the whole thing. So I soldered it up best I could and it still leaks. Next step is to pull it apart again and seal up the hole entirely, eliminating the fuel heater.
So to avoid doing what I did, see picture #5 in the first post. That pointy thing is a brass male connector. Don't twist that when removing the plastic housing from it! I did and broke the connector. While twisting, I punctured the other side with my vice grips. Bad all-around.
On later pages, I found the NAPA O-ring part #'s since nobody else seemed to be able to.
While I will delete mine soon, you may need to keep yours intact, as the Virginia winters are much harsher than mine in the Western WA.
However there are plenty of members here that have deleted theirs with good success even in places with hard winters.
Hope this helps,
Joshua
P.S. Isn't the air intrusion caused by that little thing leaking just ANNOYING?!? It's causing hard starts when hot for me right now, very frustrating. Thankfully I have an electric fuel pump which eliminates that, but I have to pop the hood to use it when the engine is hot.
Thanks for posting this so I'll kick my own butt to go fix it!
Thanks bear and xanthrax for the reply and the thread helped out a lot and yes the air intrusion in the am is a pain in the *** excuse my french sent you a inbox xanthrax
