In a day or two I am going to go junkyarding and I will am looking for a 4:10 lsd or non but would like the lsd for my 87
I have searched and got several different answers. I have read if the door tag axle code has a letter 1st then its lsd. Sound right? I know I can read the tag on the diff but I will be in my work duds and need to stay clean.
So what code on the door sticker am I looking for? Thanks
For our F250/F350 weight class you will be looking for a C5 (LS) or 35 (open) axle code (vs. C9/39 which is 3.55's). Expect that any used limited slip axle will probably be pretty shot by now, and if you really need it to grab you will need to rebuild it with new clutch packs. This is kind of pricey. Personally I would be more concerned about getting a 2nd generation 10.25 with the longer yoke splines before I went for limited slip. I believe these were on 1993 and later trucks. The axle yoke is noticeably longer, and they are not so prone to pinion gear bearing failure or "yoke wobble". My apologies if you already know this info., just thought I'd mention it just in case...
Thanks for the info. I have a clutch pack for the lsd so that part will be covered along with new seals and brakes. On the 93 if the pinion is changed is it effect the drive shaft length?
