Fuel Bowl ???

OK as some of you may already know ive been having probs with my truck for awhile now.
That said, I tore the top of the engine off to replace the fuel pump, when doing so i took apart the fuel bowl to move it back a little.

#1 when i removed the fuel heater element one of the little round discs (looks like lead?) fell off.
#2 once that was off i cleaned the bottom of the bowl (it was covered in what looked like antisieze) once all cleaned i noticed a sizable gauge in the very bottom (about 1/2in L x 1/4in W).
Im guessing that i should replace it now while its out and apart.

My questions are...
1. Does anyone know of place or person that might sell a fuel bowl cheap?
2. Does a new fuel bowl come with the heater element and if not where to get one of those as well?
3. Do any of you think that crap (from the fuel bowl) could have got into other stuff like my injectors causing even more problems?

Thanks Guys
Sorry for the long post
Harry

I would just unplug the fuel heater. I lost one of my little discs too and it never shorted out but I unplugged it anyway.

Take some JB weld and scuff the bottom of the bowl after cleaning it. Apply the JB weld liberally and let it dry overnight.

That is how mine is sealed up.

As long as the bowl is not leaking out the bottom clean it really well and JB weld the gouge. Its actually corrosion from the junk in the bottom of the bowl. As for the fuel heater just leave it or unscrew the standpipe (LEFT HAND THREAD!!) and remove the disk all together so you can clean the bottom of the bowl easier later. Don't hook the fuel heater back up what ever you do don't hook the heater back up. Its not needed and will cause more trouble than it worth. I have complete removed mine except the through connector on the side of the bowl other wise its a big hole!

I just replaced my fuel bowl with a factory Ford unit, due to the fact that I cracked the FPR when I replaced the vacuum pressure sensor that screws into the FPR.
The new bowl came with a new fuel heater, new filter and new FPR and a new vacuum sensor, all for about $300. This was less than the FPR alone at Ford and just over what O'Reillys wanted for a FPR.

Did you get this at a dealership or somewhere else?

well if I had everything together for my electric fuel system I would hook you up with my fuel bowl, hope to get it all together in the next month or so. So if you do fix it with epoxy and can wait, I'll have mine available soon

All that crap that was in your old bowl that ate up the bottom was from not draining it on a regular basis. Make sure you open the valve and drain the new one occasionally or you'll be replacing it again in another dozen years.

Thanks for the advice BlueMule.
I dont know if it matters but i usually change my oil about every 3000-5000 miles and always change the fuel filter at the same time.
Should i do drain it more often than that?

Would anyone happen to have a part number for this kit? I have a feeling I'll have to do the same. I've got a shorted fuel heater. Haven't looked at it yet, but for prudent planning it would be nice to source this part.
