A/c Damper door problem
My a/c on my 2003 f150 when I turn it on blows out the defrost vents as soon as it comes on. Wont blow at all out of the panel vents. I had a friend say it might be the damper door not opening properly. When the a/c isn't on air will blow fine out of the vents. Is there any easy way for me to check this or is it something I have to take to the dealer or a an a/c shop? It does blow cold out the defrost vents when the a/c is on. Any help appreciated.

the air flow direction doors are vacuum operated. If you loose vacuum, the default is for the air to blow out the defrost. You have a selector that chooses where the air is to blow out. Apparently the air dampers work when you pick heat, vent or defrost. When you pick AC then it gets a vacuum leak and defaults to defrost ???
I would guess you have leaking o-rings on the selector **** backside since it works in some positions.
