The front windows won't roll down in my truck. The driver side doesn't even try to roll down. No movement, no sound from the window motor, nothing. How do I tell if its a bad switch or a bad motor? The wiring is good between the motor and switch and it has good connections that appear clean.
The passenger side window goes down a couple inches and then one side drops down and it stops. If you pick up the one side that drops and press the button it goes down but it's painfully slow.
It's not the switches. The driver's side switch passes current to the passenger side switch. If the switch was bad neither window would work. Sounds like you need to get a couple of motors and clean the tracks.
Pax window sounds like it's got track issues as well as a motor. Driver's side is probably just a dead motor.
Quick test: probe each motor connector with a meter or test light while pushing window switches. If you find power there, you just need to replace that motor.
Unless you're like me and wouldn't think twice about taking it apart, cleaning up the commutator and checking the brushes, give it a good lube, etc and try again.
