Let me start by saying thanks to everyone who post & answers threads, because of you I've been able to do major and not so major surgery to my recently aquired E150 302 EFI (1986) In the process of checking my Harness wiring I've come across a bare silver wire that may have been wrapped in foil shielding, it runs along the same path as my TFI connector and is broken off right there, but I don't see where it could have broken off from. I'm hoping someone can I.D. without me having to trace it to its origin.Tks much!
Hello again,
(Just an Update) Found out this wire does just lay around inside the harness does not connect to anything at all, Don't know exactly what it's for. but the other end is grounded to the passenger side kickplate on the inside of the van near the ECM.
Bit late but...it kind of sounds like grounded shielding ...usually used to reduce electrical/magnetic interference from being induced into wiring connected to sensitive electronic stuff like those computer things in those "new-fangled" trucks
