anyone have one they are not using? mine broke, end of cable broke off dropping tire on road after it flipped under my truck.
I took it of today to repair the end and it is also broken where the wrench goes to crank it. so now I have the spare in the bed in the way.
Not everyone will agree with me, but I'd remove the stoopid socket on the winch that requires a key on the jack rod. When the bad day comes and ya need the spare, last thing you want to find missing is that key. Salvage yard winch prolly will not have the key anyway.

My brother in law just welded a socket onto where the key would go. He just found a tight fitting socket, tight enough he had to hammer it into place. Works great now. Just make sure the socket drive is the same size as your lowering end.
The "lock" can be easily taken off while it's out if the truck. I've seen it done, but don't have pictures or enough memory to tell you how... Shouldn't be hard to figure out though.
If you choose not to remove the key, a 7/16th socket will drive on there tight enough to let the tire up and down, just plan on buying a new 7/16.
