Although the smoke would be bluish white not grey or black.
Josh
Finally had some time this am to disconnect downpipe from turbo. As soon as i got the clamp out of the way i could see oil starting to drip out of the seam at the back of turbo to downpipe connection so i guess i am now pulling the turbo and doing a rebuild if it lets me.
Just to add.before I replaced my turbo with the powermax, I would get a puff of what seemed to be blueish grey smoke when truck was warming up. It would tend to be at the first stop light I would get to about 2 miles from my house. As the light turned green it would puff the smoke and immediately clear up I would occasionally notice it at similar scenarios. I too deemed the turbo seals defective and replaced the turbo and it has not replicated since. It was slowly getting worse and was told eventually it would smoke all the time if it got bad enough. I have a spare stock turbo that I still have not had time to rebuild yet.
Would this situation cause the engine to stutter? Filled up at station other than my usual one and now have Blue smoke and engine miss firing. Would like to believe its a fuel issue but blue smoke means oil most of the time.
If you guys have not seen this...it is priceless!<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/_W2R6BWDiv0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Not the antler thingy choochin dude! Lol he is funny, thanks for bringing that one back up I had a good laugh. Beg your pard!
I decided to order a powermax from Riff Raff with free shipping. I was planning on doing this at the beginning of the year anyways so christmas came a little early for me. Should i hold on to the old one or sell it for a core? Edit im tearing it down, rebuilding and keeping for a backup.
Got around to some teardown while waiting for the new powermax to get here. turbo seal looks nasty, no? First clue was disconnecting the downpipe and seeing oil drip out after i saw the smoking.
