Ford dealership repairs did not work.
History:
at 100 K miles, the truck began emiting white smoke from the tail pile during the cold mornings. It did this every 130 miles. At the same time, the oil became quite diluted with fuel (3 quarts). THe truck typically saw hwy miles until 100K. In the last 4 months, I have put 10K miles in town driving (7K elevation).
A local shop said I needed the High pressure turbo, as the seal was bad, but that the fuel, emissions, and compression tests passed with out abnormalities.
Ford, said the charge air cooler was restructed, and the EGR valve was stuck. (What have others paid for this repair).
Within 60 miles (interstate) the truck poured out white smoke. I did 400 Miles on the interstate the same day without any other smoke. Today, when it was cool, with in 20 miles, it emitted white smoke.
Humm white smoke indicates raw diesel fuel coming out of the exhaust unburned. IMHO that would indicate lack of air thus supercharger issue. But that is just my uneducated guess.
Clogged DPF? I know the only big issue on the 6.4 is the DPF getting clogged and the regens happening too often forcing the turbo overheat and blowing the seals and burning oil which could be part of your white smoke issue.
Have you had the DPF looked into? I know a lot of people are pulling them off and putting in a pipe then getting a tuner to turn off the regens.
These things are pretty complicated and symptoms meaning many different things.
Check the front cover behind the water pump. Cavitation eats the aluminum away, a pin hole lets coolant into the oil, the crankcase vents to the oil fill bottle that then vents to the turbo. Our intercooler had coolant in it and was blowing white smoke.
