I was under the impression, I had an E4OD in my truck. I just looked at the build sheet from Ford and it says it was built with a 4r100. I wanted to know what the shift points were, so i googled the 4r100 and most of the sights say that it was introduced on 1999. Obviously that is wrong.
Can anyone tell me the shift points for the 4R100 with 4.10 rear?
If its an IDI the stock trans was a E40D In 95 it got some upgrades. When the Superduty was introduced they used the 4R100, VERY similar transmissions, alot if not most parts interchange.

Since Ford says that the truck was built with a 4R100, does that mean it was an optional tranny and if they are similar, why would they be an option?
After thinking about it for a little while, I wonder if Ford messed up with the build sheet they sent me. Actually, it was a letter from Ford with all the specs fpor my VIN. How can I tell if it is a 4R100 or an E4OD?

Its an E4OD.
the 4R100 is the same transmission with a name to match ISO standards since Dodge (47rh, 47re, ect) and Chevy (4L60E, 4L80E, LCT1000) were doing it.
though ford may just call it a 4r100 on a modern (updated) build sheet,it's the pre dated series of the same trans named the e40d.same basic trans but back in the day the e40d wasn't built as strong as the 4r100 stock.the front pump they put in it was designed to flow on a more "as needed" type basis if you will.was supposed to help with trans efficiency a bit more plus the electronic solenoid pack is different and wouldn't work as is with our old school basic ecm's.
the 4r100 though an overall better trans also did have flaws introduced where the e4od spec were better.nowadays when you have a builder reman a hd trans (either name) they can build you the best of both then put whichever pump, shift linkages and solenoid packs in to make it work with your truck.
all idi and first generation psd trucks all received the E40D spec trans (though with revisions through the years with '95 being a major updated year without a name change) before they revised some more as noted and changed the name to 4r100.
That much of a range between shift points? mine ****s about 15/25/35.
thanks for the info
You can adjust the shift points by adjusting the.... "thing" on the side of the IP. Im sure speeder and F250 can help you out there if the search function lets you down.
that and the shift points of any auto trans is never a constant.it's always load variable.meaning take off like granny when empty on the flat or downhill she'll shift her earliest.take off uphill under wot when loaded, then she'll shift her latest.if the trans always shifted at the same speed despite the engine load and rate of take off speed it would really suck lol.
