E4OD Manumatic (or Tiptronic) Modification

As the title states; I was wondering if in the history of the E4OD that perhaps someone has undertaken the modification to make the transmission able to upshift and downshift manually without a clutch like the Porsche's 'Tiptronic' auto trannys seen in many cars today.

I've heard of this mod being done to other transmissions in various cars with some slight mods to the tranny itself, but has anyone ever done it with an E4OD? Just curious!

You can shift the E4OD manualy once you know how the shift solenoids are controlled. I have been looking into this but will test it out on a gm 4l80 before I messup a good Ford tranny.

Here's some info: Testing Electronic Transmission—Domestic Vehicles

Its good reading and testing!

That's awesome! Alot of good info there, thanks alot. I was reading this earlier today... very similar, but your link was definitely more specific to the tranny I was thinking of modding...

The Baumann TCS has a feature that will let you use the cruise control buttons in a fashion like your talking about.

Don't see the advantage to this though. If you want to shift all the time then get a 5 speed.

If you want to keep the auto just get a Punisher valvebody for it. You will be more than happy with it.

But like already said the Baumann controller "manutronic" will allow you to use the cruise buttons to shift.
