Installed a 3" front 2" rear on the truck and now I'm getting a power steering whine... and my ABS Light comes on when I turn the wheel to the left. I figured I just had maybe a bad connection or something since I had to lower the axle quite a bit. Haven't found the culprit yet, but I was research on the Whining that i"m getting now, and read that the breaks and the steering are tied in together some how thru the hydro-boost... So, I guess my question is, has anybody had this issue, or have any advice on fixing or trouble shooting, I still have power steering just fine no issues, but I can hear it whine now, and it wasn't doing it before the lift.
hows the fluid level? i know sometime the ford power steering systems can get air in them when working on them in the air if you turn the wheels side to side without the truck running. if that happens sometimes you will get a shake after you hit a bump. maybe you have a air pocket? id make sure your powersteering is full and try some tight figure 8's see if that helps. was it just spacer blocks or what all did the lift consist of?

Fluid level is at Full mark, i did look at it, i've never done anything to the fluid since I've had the truck for only 6 months... it has a redish tint to it, but if it's ATF then it's for sure dirty. the front portion of the lift that I did consisted of 3" bottom mounted spacers, radius arm drop bracket, and a track bar drop bracket. The axle is slightly shifted to the passenger side until I can get an adjustable track bar (didn't think I needed one) and after it was installed the wheel was upside down I adjusted that so that it was close to right side up until I get my alignment after the 35's get put on next week... and I didn't really raise the truck up too high to work on it since I was limited on jack height and Jack stand Height.. so I kinda lowered the front axle down instead since I didn't have access to a 2 post lift.
I'm going to try and flush it today when I get off work, cause the whining is driving me crazy.. a friend said that it might be putting stran on the pitman arm.. not sure if this would be relative to my issue or not.. also when I turn left the ABS light comes on until I straighten the wheel back out... I have a weird feeling that this my have something to do with the issue, since the Hydro-Boost ties these in together to my understanding...
well I did the flush.. and it seemed like it help reduce it a lot after I was done, how ever this morning when I was driving to work, it was just as bad as it was, so the flush didn't help... is it possible that there's a strain on my pitman arm and it's causing it to whine? Or maybe that my axle is an inch out of center that it would make it whine? I'm stumped, I really don't feel that it's just starting to go out, and the whining stays the same whether i'm in a straight line, turning, moving, or stopped.. doesn't make sense...
I replaced my power steering pump this past weekend, along with the pulley. the whining is still there. I started thinking and even after the lift was installed, and it made the wheel upside down, the whining didn't start until I adjusted to the drag link to straighten/center the wheel.... any ideas, cause after the work and money to do the power steering pump and pulley, and still no changed, I'm starting to get ticked off... any help is appreciated.
Did you also add bigger tires when you lifted it? Mine whines when I turn sharply, I always just assumed it was the pump straining to turn the heavier tires
is the reservoir new also? maybe possible plugged screen?
resevoir seems to be working properly as I had no problem draining it before replacing the pump. also before replacing, i flushed it and replaced with new fluid about a month ago, and no change. any other ideas?
