Power Drivers Seat
I recently purchased a set of Lariat seats for my 2000 F150. I was thinking the power harness would be under the carpet but no luck. I looked in the fuse block under the hood where the power seat fuse is supposed to be and there is a fuse there so I was wondering where I could find that wire inside the cab area? Its a two wire plug with green being power and black for ground. Can anyone out there help me out? Thanks

If your truck is an XL it might not have the wiring but usually Ford uses the same harness for everything and just leave the unneeded connectors unplugged. It should just be under the driver's seat.
If you cant find it you could just run new power and ground wires to under the seat. Make sure the power wire has a 30A fuse somewhere inline before it gets to the carpet/floor area.

I have a 2001 XLT SC. I added the power seat. The wiring did not extend to under the seat, but it did go as far as the right kick panel. As I recall, the plug had wires for the heated seats, power seat, and grounds. I spliced into the green and black and used the plug to make the connection at the seat so it would be removable. You can check by pulling the existing fuse at the front box.
Let me know if this doesn't check out for you; I'll look at mine again.

I went to the junk yard the other day to pick up some misc parts and looked over a heated expedition seat. I noticed the underneath had a pretty complex wiring harness and relay. Not to mention the heating unit underneath the seat covers. Might be better to buy aftermarket heated seat pads and slip those underneath the seat covers. Then you could buy the side panels that have the heat button and wire it into a 12v source. Probly a bit much I guess.

This sounds just about as much work as getting the OEM parts installed. I'd prefer to go with original parts, so long as they're obtainable. Then I know all the components are compatible.
I have the shop manual and wiring diagram for the 2003 F-150, so there's plenty of guidance available to me.

Yeah, I added the heated seats. Originally did it because we're used to the dual climate control and now my wife can heat up her seat without me being too hot. But I gotta' tell you; turning on just the upper heater feels real good on my back after a day's work!
I bought an aftermarket set (2 pads for each seat) for $99.50 plus shipping (might have been $99.50 each seat, but I think that was the total). They drop right in and are set up with a round control switch so you don't have to buy a new side shield. I put my switches in the dash, so I can control them both. On mine the factory power circuit went as far as the right kick panel. The control circuit needs to tap in under the dash (so it will only go on with the ignition).
My source was Rostra Precision Controls 910-276-4853. I think they must make the OEM units because they fit in the slots in the seat foam so perfectly. Anyway, they work real well. I would normally agree with you on getting the Ford part from your dealer, but in this case I think you'll find it cheaper and easier this way.

The Rostra components look promising for my application (I looked at their website www.rostra.com). I need to do a bit more research on it -- and probably talk with them directly-- but it looks like this could be a good alternative to using the Ford components. Whatever mod I end up doing, I'll likely post pictures here for the benefit of other members.
MrBSS: An earlier posting in this thread said you added the power seat. I have a power driver's seat, but manual passenger seat. I'd like to make the passenger side power also. How did you accomplish the modification? Did you install new seat assemblies, or just swap-out the parts to make it/them power?
I can see the wiring for the power seat under the passenger seat now (it's not connected to anything, and I didn't check yet to see if it's energized -- but at least the wires are there!). What I really need is a listing of parts to make all this come together!

Hey PA thats another issue I looked into earlier on also. Goto fordpartsonline.com or fordpartscheap.com or fortpartsnetwork.com and look up (Lincoln Navigator seat assy for passenegers side). The whole unit with motors runs about $230-$250 plus you will need the side seat plate with controls about another $50 for that. Check your local junk yard for navigator seats (passengers seat is powered on those) seat assy would be cheaper and should be compatible with the F150 assy. Good luck..
