Frame widths?

Frame widths?
If my memory serves me right, the 73-77.5 4x4 trucks (hiboy) had a narrower frame in the front than the 77.5-79 4x4 trucks?
I came across a nice winch bumper and winch combination off a 78, and I'd like to have it on my 76. If the frames are not the same width then I won't bother with it.

This topic seems to be popping up a lot lately. There are 2 frame widths, If you have a 1 ton cab and chassis with dually axle, a highboy or a bronco you have a 34" wide chassis. Pretty much everything else is 37", I say pretty much everything else due to the fact that people like me know how to swap cabs so there will be a few oddball truck and frame combos that forum readers have come across.
