Theres a fly in my gauge cluster

not sure how but somehow a fly ended up in my gauge cluster under the plastic shield. He's dead but now i have a little fly carcass sitting right underneath my tranny temp gauge. Any idea how to get him out besides the obvious tear the dash apart option ?

Maybe a small tube on the end of a vac hose? Try to weave it in from the back?
Dad bought a brand new 1973 GMC Jimmy in '73. Sometime in '74 a fly got in the speedo and died. 8 years later and ? miles the fly went with the trade in!!!
We thought it was funny. That fly traveled all over the western states and went to Alaska too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

you are probably pulling things apart to get him out of there ....

could try tapping on the gauge cluster and see if you can get him to drop down to a spot where he won't be seen.

could leave him there as a science experiment ... see how long it takes a fly corpse to fully decompose.

or leave him there and tell everyone who notices to be quiet and not wake up your pet fly "Shhh ... he's taking a nap"

This is a new twist to the joke" what's the last thing to go through a fly's mind when he hits your windshield"

For those who haven't heard this one, it its his sphincter (cleaned it up for the ladies)

That's the best one yet!!And to expand on that theme, tell the patrolman "trying to get him to the hospital officer!"

I personally would try to get the stem of a can of computer keyboard duster and just get it out of view, I think that would be better that scratching the lense or inadvertantly breaking something trying to remove it.

If there is a dead fly then there was a maggot and a maggot prey to prey on, so it is feasible there were other maggots there also; the dash may be infested. :>)

Compressed air - either by way of hose or the kind that comes in a can to clean sensitive parts like camera lenses or computer parts. Try blowing from the back side first.

Turn up the music real loud, put a dead fly close to it on the bezel and slowly drag it down the length of the bezel while rapping with a soda straw/roughly striking the dash. Does the other dead fly join in the dance? Enough bounding around and it will disrupter into fragments. : >/
