I have a 1995 F150 4.9 4x4 5spd, and my temperature gauge isn't working. I've read some other forum post and did as they said to ground out the wire that goes to the temperature switch on the passenger side of the block. When I did this the gauge didn't go all the way to the right as it's supposed to. It just sort of stuttered back and forth in place very slightly. I also replaced the temperature switch and no luck there. I'm thinking it's probably the gauge that is bad but is there any possibility it's a bad wire? I just hate to go and buy a new gauge and still not have it working. Is there anyway to check the gauge directly on the back of the cluster? Thanks in advance!
Before spending coin pull the gauge cluster and verify the connections are good. My old 1992 F350 had a varying temp. reading. Turned out one of the connections on the back of the cluster was ready to fall off,

I pulled apart the dash and disconnected the cluster, and reconnected everything so all the connections are good
