Replacing Volt Gauge in OEM Cluster

I have a voltage gauge that is not sweeping and I am sure my battery and altenator are in good shape. Does anyone have any expierence taking one from a good cluster and replacing the bad ...just the gauge itself. I am guessing it is doable. Also, does anyone know if the voltage gauge gets its reading directly from the altenator?

Yes the clusters come apart. Not sure ware they pull there power from. Each gauge is a separate unit. I think LMC sells new ones. Maybe even dealer still can get um .. not sure.

all gauges are seperate, and are easy to change once you take the cluster apart.
get a cluster from a junk yard for $5 and you will have spare parts.
