Functional aftermarket gauge?
Hello folks...
Well, I recently discovered a bad temperature gauge, thanks to the help from the folks on the forum here.
I need a new gauge to monitor in the cab. I have the single wire sensor located near the distributor, right by the oil fill cap on my 351W. I'd like a gauge that might be a bit larger and/or easier to read and might even have lighting built in. Are there any wireless options?
Is there any hope/value to trying to find a functional direct replacement to put in the instrument cluster or will I have to have a whole new working instrument cluster to use? Can I replace just the temperature gauge in the original cluster? Where would I find what is necessary to do that? Does anyone have a good howto out there for that?
Thanks for the suggestions and guidance folks...

The dash gauge can be replaced pretty easily, you just have to remove the dash trim and then unbolt the clear plastic lens covering the whole gauge cluster. With that done the gauge pairs can be pulled from the cluster and replaced with another... the individual sections literally just plug right in.

Haven't heard about wireless gauges, but I'm sure there's something out there.
Paul has you squared away with factory stuff.
If you want reliability go with a mechanical style. Anything electrical is going to have built in doubt like stock. Either way, you'll want a place to take your reading. There is a pad built into the top of the thermostat where Ford once had a ported vacuum switch. You can drill & tap it for a sending unit.
