Cooling Fan

Is there any good test to know if the cooling fan is working proper?

I believe AE will control the Duty cycle while you watch rpm

You have SGII Right??

We probably see alittle info with SGII on the Fan

Take Fan RPM At Low and High Idle EOT Above 185* when Taken

What bings the Fan into ????

The truck's been running hot. I replaced the thermostat but that didn't fix it.

I've noticed that I don't hear the fan spin up any more when the ECT gets in the 215 range.

I was up in the mountains today and the temp was 216 and I was babying the heck out of it. I let it idle for a good 10-15 minutes while I unloaded the ATV and the temp didn't drop even 1 degree.

Do you know the symptoms of a bad fan clutch?

Yes I have SGII. I'll have to program the fan info into it I guess.

Egr is plugged in and the wiring appears good. I'll have to look closer at the wiring tomorrow. Break out the volt meter.

Thanks Blade. I'll check those temps in the morning. See if there's anything weird.

i run them up past that to test for a slipping belt

One other thing to check because no one else said it.
Is the radiator clean. No bugs, mud or paper stuck
so as to block the airflow.

Radiator is pretty clean. All the temp sensors look to be working normally. I haven't had a chance to really look over the wiring real good just yet. I'm trying to get a friend to hook up his AE so I can see better what's going on.

Your Scangauge II already has ECT as a gauge another good gauge to add is EOT. I found the SG to be much more accurate than the pillar gauges. That may have something to do with EGR delete I am not sure but SG readings are always very close together. Also adding the FSS you may not hear the fan ramp up but the FSS gauge will show when it is ramping up. FICM voltage is another good one to check in on every now and then.

Engine Oil Temp.
TXD: 07E0221310
RXF: 046245130610
RXD: 3010
MTH: 00090005F05F ( Use this if the EOT is not reading right 00090005FFD8)

Fan speed typically varies from 200-800 rpm using a/c. Had it go 1100 rpm while starting from a light for a moment and i could hear it. Started watching the fss on the sg2 saw it happen a few times.

The sg2 is really great at the odd things like this.
using it to troubleshoot a faulty ficm power relay or wire...
