Cause for Concern??
So, we took our 02 4.0l AWD Mountaineer (now w/ 102K on it) on vacation earlier this month to a rather hilly region. I don't drive this thing very much as it is my wife's ride and whatnot. Anyhow, on a hill at a stoplight when the stoplight turned green I removed my foot from the brake to put it on the gas and the Mountaineer rolled backwards. Not just a little bit, but more like it was in neutral. When I got to the gas it went forward just fine. I have never noticed this before and became a little concerned. The wife says this is what she is used to but we don't have very many hills where we live so it's never been an issue. Do I have an issue? I have a warranty on it and if this is not an expected behavior than I'll need to get Ford's attention.
BTW, maintenance-wise the history of this rig is unknown as we bought it used a short while ago and it seems to shift buttery smooth everytime w/ a possible slight delay going from R to D, but that may be just in my head. Thanks.

I'm pretty sure the sprag is supposed to prevent it from rolling backwards. If it has not had regular fluid changes every 30,000 miles, then it needs to get that done. Sprag wear will only get worse, and it will start causing issues later on.
