I am in the process of hunting down a strange issue with my 2010 Grand Marquis, 4.6L 4R75E
I have had an issue that I think may be transmission related. About 3,000 miles ago I had it rebuilt at 108,000 miles because of a planetary issue..
Now after reading the paperwork it states that Mercon V was used, instead of the recommended LV as stated on the stick and the manual. I was told "nothing really changed to warrant the fluid switch, so we just run V in all the rebuilds we do".
Now when the transmission is up to temp after a short drive, sitting at a stop, if you let off the brake and slowly creep forward, you feel a shutter until you release the brake completely and takeoff. As soon as its put into N during the shudder it goes away.
I brought it back and they had it for a week or so and they of course couldn't find an issue.
I know in 2009+ there were changes including the LV spec.
Tune up items are new, no codes either.
Before I head to Ford and have the system flushed and LV replaced, am I just going crazy?
No, you're not. There are reasons for different fluids, and the trans shop doesn't know why Ford decided to change to LV. If it were mine I'd change it.

Thanks Mark, I know 2009+ cars saw quite a few internal changes for the panther platform. Ill swing by Ford on my lunch and have it taken care of if nothing else for the piece of mind!
It hopefully will explain some of these random issues and just feeling off sometimes.. Its been about 3,000 miles since the rebuild but Im hoping all is ok!
Ive heard from a few people that all supposedly was changed was the viscosity.. being kinda inexperienced with transmissions, I figured they were right..
