Cluster???
Cluster???
Are the clusters interchangeable between same year trucks both auto and both diesel. Mine took a crap. I resoldered it and even had it to a speedo repair shop and it still doesnt work. Now i would just like to put a used one in it.
They have programming stored in there own onboard computer.
If you can find one that matches your you may be able to get
it to work or not. However you can get a replacement one programmed
to you as built specs. The gas cluster won't work on the diesel. It's
missing some display info. Glow plugs,Water in fuel and maybe more.
If you match model for model then you can and then just the Odometer
will be off. You can get that fixed at a local speedometer repair shop easy
or again take it to Ford. They will need the old one so that data gets moved.
One other thing and it may just be someone talking. It was said that sometimes
in you plug a replacement one it it won't work till programmed.
BTW : What is wrong with yours? I have a link somewhere to a shop that will
repair them. They may even have an exchange program.

Sure I'm interest in the link. Thanks for your help
Let me do a little bit of digging in my bookmark folder. It's huge so it will take a bit.
When you say twist do you mean the cluster it's self or the cables going to it?
Sometimes the wires in the harness get a little bit loose as can the pins can also.
Reseating them can help. To reseat the pins you may need the proper tool. The
tool that your going to need I'll also have to look up. It's not some thing I have
access to so what I'll do is have a look at my cluster and see what tool fits.
It helps to have al my avionics crimp tool set here at home. I will have a look
in the afternoon for you.
Found two in my bookmark file and I am not sure what one I called
so I'll post both. You might try the first one first
