PCOM Question

Can anyone tell me if the PCOM is part of the instrument cluster or does it just plug into the instrument cluster?

I am looking at replacing mine, but finding one for an instrument cluster for a diesel is not that easy. So I was wondering since it is the PCOM I need, could I use a PCOM from a gasser in my diesel?

PSOM: Programmable Speedometer/Odometer Module

the PSOM is a devoted section in the cluster.it's not fuel type specific.

Smacked it and it works! but why?

It appears the PCOM can be removed from the cluster. So I assume that means I can take a pcom board off a gasser cluster and replace mine. Is that correct?

If so, I would assume the mileage would be off though. I would assume that there is a way to have that reset to the proper mileage.
