yeah, surprisingly you could special order your 9th gen truck with a c6 in place of the e40d all the way up through to '96 i believe.an expensive cost of ownership mistake especially with the well known gas guzzling giant 460.
buying this used combo today with our fuel prices, for anything short of a yard/plow truck, would be borderline insane lol.
plan on 6.5-7 mpg and if you get 8 with it,do a little dance.
id pass on the truck unless you just wont be driving it much.in that case,5 mpg doesn't matter much between 10 mpg if all you drive is an oil change worth per year or so.if you put on 10-20k miles per year, then of course don't even think about it.she'll drain ya dry.it could be worth an e40d swap, but not at 2k cus the e40d swap could cost you more, and with 4-5k then you might as well just buy a diesel truck,so it's pointless to buy really (or even put it on the road and drive even if it was a gift imho) unless it just wont be used much or you really just can't stand keeping a penny in the bank lol.
Thanks again for all the feedback guys. I just called the guy and told him I'd take it. Thank goodness its just going to be a work truck. Plowing snow, pulling trailer and hauling is all its going to do.
Bright spot is I wont have friends asking to barrow it at 7 mpg.
I can get around 12 in town and that's with the AC going as well. I have a light foot and the 3.55's and E4OD really help. If I cruise on the highway at 75 or 80 I get no more than 10 lol. I also cut the air horns out and took the stock cat and muffler out. Definitely look into taking your air horns out and if you're somewhere they don't do emissions testing, take your cat out as well. It really helps.
