MPG question

Now I currently own a 99f250ld but its having some problems right now mpg is lacking and I've always like the 87-96 style trucks since my dad used to have one.
But im thinking of picking up a 150 or MAYBE a 250 with a 302-351..And if these things are in good shape what kinda gas mileage can be expected.
Now I would never buy a truck for mileage but it is a good thing to know obviously.
Thank you.

17-18?!?!? What is your gearing and tire size? I get an average or 11-14mpg -> mostly highway with a bit of city driving. See truck specs in sig.

Geez with 4.10s you're getting that? I've heard on here that going with a numerically higher gear with my 33 inch tires would most likely INCREASE my gas milage. Man, I'd like to change my gearing but I just don't think that the price of replacing the gears in both pumpkins will offset the extra cost in gas... Sure would be nice to have that extra umph though.

I get 15 16 MPG on Pa 2 lane mountain roads . In 94 F150 sc lb 4x4 maf 302 w/ e4od and 3:55 rears . I've had 15 of these F150 and F250
In the f150 in hills 302 13-14 MPG 15 + on highway
351 10-13 (on a good day ) and 14 highway
Take 1-2 off those for F250 with auto .
Have got better with manual trans.
