1990 5speed issues
hey...I have a 1990 f250...4.9...4x4...5speed...heres the problem i have 1st and reverse will go into those gears with the clutch in engine running..however will not engage into the others...with the engine off will go into all gears...truck will drive but wiil not progressively shift

My guess is worn out clutch or bad slave cylinder. Unfortunately, I think you may have to pull the tranny to access the slave cylinder on the 5 speeds. Or so I have been told.
Do you have plenty of fluid in the clutch resevoir?

there is plenty of fluid, the truck will drive fine just the shifting is bad, no noise in neutral, and yes come to the conclusion about pulling the tranny to r/r slave cylinder and while im in there the clutch and pressure plate..and maybe the fly wheel too

IIRC, the ZF has the slave cylinder outside the bell housing. The Mazda M5R2 has the slave cylinder inside the bell housing.
So, check your transmission type, you may not need to drop the entire transmission.
I thought the Mazda wasn't offered on the F250's.
