dash brake light out

The brake light in my instrument cluster on my 1997 F150 won't come on. I have put in 2 new bulbs. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm assuming you are referring to the parking brake light...Try WD-40 on the sensor mechanism, or replace the sensor (the button piece is most likely sticking when you apply the brake).

What about the switch on the park brake pedal?

It must be the switch in the parking brake pedal. Now I have to locate it and try cleaning it first, and if that doesn't work then replacing it. I fiddle farted around with it this morning and if I play with engaging and releasing the pedal the light will occasionally come on. So, yea, process of elimination to the switch. Thanks for the quick replies and help guys.

I'll have to try this. Mine has never worked since I got the truck. Left the brake on a time or two because of it.

Does it turn in during the bulb check (right when you turn the key on to "Run")? The Brake light (and all bulbs) should light for a few seconds.

If not, it may just be the bulb burnt out.
