Morning guys, quick question. On my dash voltage regulator ,My test light burns constant on one post while being intermittent on the other post like a fast signal light. I assume it should be constant on both ? The only dash light I have is my green signal , which also blinks w / my signals .

B9MZ-10804-C .. ICVR - Instrument Cluster Voltage Regulator has nothing to do with the oil warning (idiot) light.
The warning light sending unit (B6AZ-9278 B - Motorcraft SW-667) is pressure activated. It's a notorious POS, as it gets gummed up with dirty oil, the light no longer works.
ICVR affects the fuel and temp gauges. When it begins to fail, the needles of these gauges do "the hula" .. swing wildly back/forth on their own. When the puppy fails, the needles peg at F & H
If understand correctly may be referring to the Constant Voltage Regulator (CVR) located on the back of the instrument cluster. The CRV receives constant voltage on 1 side and the other oscillates from between 0-9 volts, kinda like a shock absorber to the dash instruments.
Assuming you have the 'sweeping speedo' instrument cluster if I were to hazard a guess I would say the green blinking light is your rt/lf turn signal indicator light.
If you do have the sweep style gauge cluster the only blinking green light will be the Blinker as stated by the previous post. I puzzled on that the first time I drove my 66. The ICVR does have constant voltage to one side and buffers it to the gauges. If the only lights that you have are the gauge illumination and they don't come on it's pretty easy to figure it out. Test with your meter, with the light switch on , is there voltage, if not you need a light switch, if there is you need light bulbs. Of course if the wiring harness has been tampered with you could be in for a bigger adventure.
Hope this helps.
Your turn signals run off the flasher so it blinks, the cvr is just a coiled wire around a little strip of middle to send out 6 volts to the gauges as they don't run off 12 volts. When mine burnt out I actually went and bought a solid state voltage regulator that works awesome, 5 bucks and 10 minutes to solder and install works like a dream.
Ok more background, cab off restoration, all new paint on everything , wiring was left intact. It is sweeping style , I'm having problems getting grounds. Asking to get understanding how a CVR works, have gotten most things working . Only white dash bulb I have is my green signal , so that's not right. it also blinks w signals. New headlight switch , new bulbs. so its probably a ground problem . no horn. Thanks for replying. I have color coded wiring diagram . I only checked it w test light.
Sweep speedo cluster: The amp (10850) and oil pressure (9273) gauges were standard equipment on Camper Specials, optional on others.
The instrument cluster bezel (C5TZ-10838-A) has been reproduced by Carpenter, but (like the genuine Ford original), does not come with holes punched out for these two gauges.
Update, I do not have the extra gauges, may add them later. I now have dash lights everything works except my alternator light burns with battery showing 14volts while engine is running.
[quote=664x4drvr;13404186]Update, I do not have the extra gauges, may add them later. I now have dash lights everything works . My alternator test showed a open diode, so I replaced the alternator. BUT.. alternator light is still burning when running. is there a connection I could check to turn the light off ??
