alt light

I have a 66 and have tried everything to get my alt light as bright as my oil light but it just isn't i've cleaned all grounds and charging system wires new reg new alt new bulb still not as bright better but not the same as the oil light. On a postive note the charging system is working excellant lol. My question is what's everyone elses like? Thanks

The lens on the dash cluster is probably opague with age or is very dirty. The light doesn't shine thru it as brightly as the oil light. You might try to take the cluster out and give it a good cleaning,

I take it yours is bright? The lens does look a little cloudy but even with the buld out it still looks dim. I tesed the socket and here's what I found if I test the postive center termail and hook up the voltmeter to a ground i get batt voltage but if i test it with the ground in the socket it's about 8 volts.grrr
