Dash cluster light problems???
I have a 1979 F-150, and the lights in the dash cluster, and the gauges themselves sometimes just don't work, and then other times they do. This happens about once a week or so, I'll look at my gauges, and the temp and oil are at the far left, and then a few miles down the road they go back into the normal range. I know I should upgrade to mechanical gauges, but that would be ignoring the problem.
I can't figure out what is wrong. A friend told me that there is some sort of circuit board that may need replaced. Is there such a monster, and what would it be called, and where could I get one???
I tried the archives, and couldn't find any other problems that were like mine.

Dash cluster light problems???
A few things to check.
First remove the instrument cluster:
1) inspect for crack & clean the *printed circuit* on the back of the cluster.
This is what distributes the current to where it is supposed to go.
2) Inspect & test the Instrument clustser voltage regulator for current output & current pulse speed.
3) You mention lighting too.
This is all part of the same system.
This printed circuit can be replaced (e-mail me).
