Lousy Brakes
On my truck my brakes are giving me the fits. Basicly they plain suck. This truck has sat for probably three months since the rear end went south. Got that fixed and now my brakes aint workin good. I have brakes but they are marginal. You have to press real hard and it takes alot of travel for them to work. They will barely hold my truck when its idling in gear. My pedal isn't soft or anything. Also I have bleed the crap out of them. I tryed just plugging off my rears to see if that helped but it didn't change a thing. I also tried changing masters and that didn't help. So what should I do next.

The rears are supposed to come on just before the fronts do,
then the fronts take over with the major portion of braking.
Now, another thing !
Have you tested the M/C ?
With the engine shut off, pump and press down on the brake pedal and hold it there >
If after 5 minutes of holding the pedal, it hasn't sunk to the floor, The M/C is okay.
If the pedal does sink to the floor > replace the Master Cylinder
Let's get this straight:
New Master cylinder.
New rear brakes.
No pedal.
1. Does the pedal return all the way back up after you take your foot off? if not you need a power booster, the big thing behind the master cylinder.
2. do the brake lights stay on after you let your foot off? brake booster.
3. Generally, if you got a low pedal; you've got loose rear brakes. Adjust the rear shoes out until the start to drag on the drum. Now bleed. You should be able to build a hard pedal from there. if you cut off the rear brakes and still couldn't build a hard pedal, then you've got an air bound master cylinder. Pump the master and then while holding the pedal down have someone break the line loose at the cylinder and retighten. this should release the air in the cylinder.
Good luck,
