Turbo Question
First, I have 6.0 with EGR delete, straight pipe exhaust, ARP studs, SCT tuner with a mild tow tune. Started having problems with overboost under heavy load and at higher rpms when it downshifted. I had to lay off the throttle to keep the boost down. Pulled the turbo and did a clean. There was some scale and build up, and a few of the vanes didn't move all that freely. Got everything cleaned up good, and back on the truck. Now under a heavy load and at 2400-2500 RPM the boost goes up to about 28 psi. I didn't have to back off the throttle to keep it from climbing, but I didn't lay into it more either. The question is what should be the normal max on this turbo? Am I within specs. or do I need to look deeper?
The Ford TSB seems to indicate 30 to 32 psi is not out of range. Don't have everything I need to test the VGT solenoid, but when I pulled it everything was clean, and the cam operated smooth. Comments anyone?
