Just an average guy who "thought" I could figure this mess out.
My truck was loosing coolant, replaced water pump, and thermostat, still losing coolant. So I assumed it was the EGR cooler. So I deceided w/ the complete EGR delete kit (Sinister) and to replace the oil cooler.
Everything was installed, truck started, no boost. I went through everything rechecked, realighned everything, started truck again, now we have boost. Truck is not 100%, but runs. I has a strange whistle as a exhaust leak, and the smell of diesel. I can't find the leak to save my life??? Any ideas??
Next issue: when I turn my key on the glow plug light comes on then right off, and of course if its cold it won't start. Eventually it will. so I replaced the glow plug module thinking that was it, nope same deal. the glow plugs in it are only 3 years old. I'm getting the error code P0671 which is
<table id="codetable"><tbody><tr><td>P0671</td><td> Glow plug #1 circuit failure</td><td> Circuit/connector failure, failed glow plug, failed GPCM, PCM
Now I'm friggn lost!! Could it be a loose wire somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you very much!!!!
</td></tr></tbody></table>
By the code it's either just a bad glow plug or bad wire. You can check both with an ohm meter. I STILL (because I just asked someone else) don't remember exactly what ohm reading you're looking for at the glow plug but the wire itself should be zero. I'm also puzzled about the "instant off" glowplug light and I'll let someone else weigh in on that.
AFA the whistle/exhaust leak it's typically where the y-pipe connects to the turbo, but it can be the intercooler (CAC) itself, one of the CAC hoses, a bellows on the y-pipe, or , depending on the type of EGR delete, one of those connections. It's easier to find a leak with a "rag on a stick" OR at night watching with a flashlight and someone blipping the throttle to "make smoke".
