I took the laptop out Sunday and put the truck through all the diagnostic tests that AE would run. During the KOER cycle test which puts the glowplugs through a circuit test I get codes of P0671 and P0677 which indicate faulty/failed circuits/glowplugs for cylinders 1 and 7 or a failed GPCM, however the PCM never sets a code and has never indicated any kind of glowplug problem. I will test all the circuits when I have them out but what is this test really telling me with no hard codes set. The truck starts as good as ever.
Idk Tim. FWIW As many times as I have ran that test on my AE, I have never had it throw those codes. I would put a multimeter to those circuits and test them out.
I'm also wondering if it's not oil contamination in the harness. I have LOTS of crankcase pressure. I think its probably in my best interest to get a new harness. Is there a specific ohm reading I need to look for when I test the glowplugs?
An individual glow plug should ohm out at 0.5 to 2.0 ohms. A bad one will read much higher. If you have one you can put an inductive ammeter on one bank at one of the two harnesses at the Glow Plug Controller Module (GPCM). You can get up to 200 A at first, but then should stabilize around 35-45 A. Check the other bank with the inductive ammeter. Both sides should read the same. If not, check the amps to each individual glow plug to determine which one (or ones) is bad. Each glow plug should draw 10-12 Amps.
According to my book powertrain control/ emissions diagnosis for the 2007 model year in the pinpoint test it shows the ohm's should be between .5 to 2.0
Rusty beat me to it

You have alot of crankcase pressure? Did you take the oil cap off when running to see how much it was?

I haven't tested the pressure specifically but with the oil cap off running it looks like a steam locomotive and makes a little oil shower--LOL. I know it's quite a bit more than it should be.
